THE SHORT VERSION

This Privacy Policy applies to the Nutrition X-Ray mobile application ("App") for iOS and Android, and the website nutritionxray.com ("Site"), operated by Adult Supervision LLC ("we," "us," or "our").

By using Nutrition X-Ray, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

WHAT WE COLLECT

We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service. This includes:

• Barcode data: When you scan a product, the barcode number (UPC/EAN) is sent to third-party food databases (Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central) to retrieve ingredient information. We do not permanently store a record of every barcode you scan.
• Scan history (Premium): If you are a paid subscriber, your scan history is stored locally on your device and may sync to a secure backend so you can access it across devices. You can delete this at any time.
• Account data: If you create an account, we store your email address and hashed password. We never store passwords in plain text.
• Device identifiers: Anonymous device identifiers used for crash reporting and basic analytics. These are not linked to your identity.
• Purchase data: Transaction records managed by Apple/Google and RevenueCat to verify subscription status. We do not store raw payment card data.
• Crash & diagnostics: Anonymized crash logs to improve app stability. No personally identifiable information is included.

We do not collect: your name (unless you provide it voluntarily), precise GPS location, contacts, microphone data, or any data unrelated to the app's core function.

CAMERA ACCESS

Nutrition X-Ray requests access to your device camera solely to scan barcodes. We do not capture, store, transmit, or process your camera images or video. The camera feed is processed entirely on-device in real time to extract barcode values only.

Camera access is required for the core scan functionality. You can revoke camera permission at any time in your device Settings, though this will prevent barcode scanning from working.

THIRD PARTIES

We use the following third-party services to operate the App. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:

• Open Food Facts — Open-source food database used for ingredient lookups. Barcode numbers are sent to their API. No personal data is transmitted. (Privacy Policy)
• USDA FoodData Central — U.S. government food database used for nutritional and ingredient verification. Public API, no personal data transmitted.
• RevenueCat — Subscription management platform. Manages purchase verification and subscription status. May receive an anonymized user ID and purchase receipts. (Privacy Policy)
• Supabase — Backend infrastructure for account management and (for premium users) scan history sync. Data is stored in encrypted form on U.S.-based servers. (Privacy Policy)
• Apple App Store / Google Play — Distribution platforms that may collect their own usage and purchase data per their respective privacy policies.

We do not use advertising SDKs, social media tracking pixels, or behavioral analytics platforms. We do not sell your data to any third party, ever.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Nutrition X-Ray offers optional paid subscriptions (Monthly at $2.99/month, Annual at $14.99/year) and a one-time Lifetime purchase ($29.99), processed through Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing.

All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never receive, see, or store your credit card or payment method details.

RevenueCat is used to manage subscription entitlements across platforms. RevenueCat may receive an anonymized user identifier and purchase receipt data to verify your subscription status.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. To manage or cancel subscriptions, visit your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

HOW LONG WE KEEP DATA

• Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
• Scan history: Stored until you delete it or delete your account.
• Purchase records: Retained for up to 7 years as required by accounting and tax law.
• Crash logs: Retained for up to 90 days, then automatically purged.
• Anonymous analytics: Aggregated and anonymized; not tied to individual users.

You can request full deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at privacy@nutritionxray.com.

CHILDREN

Nutrition X-Ray is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us personal information, contact us immediately at privacy@nutritionxray.com and we will delete it promptly.

YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
• Opt-out: Opt out of any non-essential data processing.
• Withdraw consent: Revoke consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@nutritionxray.com. We respond to all requests within 30 days.

CCPA / CPRA

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grant you additional rights:

• The right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used.
• The right to delete personal information we have collected.
• The right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. Note: We do not sell or share your personal information.
• The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
• The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
• The right to limit use of sensitive personal information.

To submit a California privacy rights request, email privacy@nutritionxray.com with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line.

UPDATES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you through the App or via email if you have an account.

Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
